Welcome back!

Today we will focus on the admissions process for specific college majors.

Before we get into this, let us level set. Because if if you do not understand the basics of college admissions, you will miss this.

If you have followed us or many other college advisory groups, you know that there are typically 3 categories of colleges that students apply to:

  • Safety

  • Target

  • Reach

You can find out more about these categories in previous writings we have done if you have questions, but the gist is that every college applicant should have colleges in each of these three buckets.

Too few or too many in any given category can have a drastic impact on your college admissions. The idea is to balance the risk of certain schools with the guarantees of others to give yourself options in the spring for where you attend college.

For the most part, that strategy will likely carry you far enough to gain admission to a few schools, but there are some instances where that is not enough.
